The Greek word for
"thefts" is associated with
trickery and
deception. The Greek word for "
robber", on the other hand, is that of "
theft" by
force. The
GNT (Greek New Testament) sometimes mixes these words.
Example: Thieves break in to
"steal" by taking something or putting something in such as ideas.
Example: The Trojan Horse. Who would give bad gifts (houses) to their children?

The Trojan horse was another "
gift" that is the source of the saying "
Beware of Greeks bearing gifts". The
modern Greek phrase
"Δούρειος ίππος" (THU-ree-os EEP-pos) ≈ "Trojan horse" and is, literally, "
gift horse" with no mention of "
Trojan".
Some colleges and universities dispose of their old computers rather than giving them to faculty, staff, students, etc. Why might this be the case?
When people get a free gift such as a computer with a value of, say, $100, they will then expect computer support for that free computer, which could amount to about $100 per hour (all costs included).

The ancient Greek word
"διορύσσω" ≈ "dig a canal/tunnel". In context, the
"dig a canal" could mean
"break out" of prison or
"break into" a house,
"undermine" a foundation,
"ruin" a wall, etc.
A
"break into" a house, say to get
"treasure", is a one way
"break through" in and a one way transport
out.
In
"digging a canal", one intends to transport things
both ways. This may be important in the meaning of the verse. That
"digging through" does not happen in
heaven as in the wedding feast, fence around the sheep, etc.

"burst" for the wineskins is has the same root as the
"rend" for the swine to whom pearls are thrown. This appears to relate the "
pigs" to the "
old bottles".

earth". The
"ruin" of that house is the same root word as that of
"burst" for the wineskins and that of
"rend" for the swine to whom pearls are thrown.

Here is one way to take these verses
figuratively in a sense of
"type" as used by Paul, Barnabas, etc.
The "evil" or "bad" "servant" is a "bird" or false leader.
A "type" is a metaphor of something of more significance.
The "bird" will "type" the followers with bad example after bad example to deceive the followers.
If you do not like this figurative meaning of "
type" as "
smite", at least I tried to "
hit" you with my best "
shot", to "
clobber" you with "
logic", but you took it as a "
slap" in the "
face", and were not "
smitten" by the analogy.

The following is conducive to a play on words in the Greek. Paul appears to do this once in Ephesians 4:14. The Greek for "
doctrine" is that of "
teaching".
"ἄνεμος" ≈ "wind, breeze, gale" and often used in verses with Satan or the devil as "accuser" throwing/breathing accusations.
"ἄνομος" ≈ "without law" which could be "lawless", "impious", "unmusical", "illegal", etc.
English: ... carried about by every wind of teaching.
Play on words: ... carried about by every without-law teaching.
Any teaching that goes against "
Loving God" or "
Loving neighbor as yourself" would be "
without-law" or "
against-law".

"devil" might be thought of as the
"methods" of the
"devil" as in a
trap to
deceive those. In both cases in Ephesians, the word for
"method" is not used in a positive light. Deception has been an important part of military operations since time began.
The Greek word translated as "
against" is that of "
towards".
This analogy would be familiar to any soldier of the time as deception was common in military operations. Alexander the Great made great use of deception since he usually had a much smaller force than his opponents. The Romans were deceived at a devastating ambush at Teuteburg Forest about 9 A.D.

GNT where Jesus uses the two words (in order and near) that make up the Greek word for "

The English word order is more natural, even in the Greek. Greek allows word order to be changed to accommodate, for example, play on words. This play on words requires the Greek word used. Might this be
subliminal message suggesting "
deception" by the "
adversary"?

nt" sound has the same sound as the ancient "
d" sound. Try saying the sounds to hear and fell (through the lips) the result.

Play: ... and to eat and drink after the trick/ruse.
There appears to be the same play on words using the two Greek words before,
"μετά" ≈ "after" and
"των" ≈ "of". However, this play on words does not fit in other usages of these two words by Jesus and the play on words is already present here.

Ten virgins - destinations not directly stated but connected to the harvest at the end of the age (seventh kingdom parable).
Talents - "many" (two) "left", "few" (one) "taken" and cast into "outer" "darkness".
Sheep and Goats. The "sheep" are ""forgiven"" and "inherit" without "leaving". The "goats" "taken" away into "everlasting" "punishment".
