Easter Sunday
1. Easter Sunday
2. Easter egg demise
|
He died last fry day.
Thank God he wasn't beaten.
Don't worry. He went over easy.
He's now on the sunny side.
He's definitely in a better plate.
|
So much for the undertaking of some flat egg yolks egg-press-ly for you.
The modern Greek word for
"dawn" as «
αυγά» and
"egg" as «
αυγό» are related.
3. Golden egg of Astarte
Judges 2:13 And they forsook the LORD, and served Baal and Ashtaroth. [kjv]
… Baal … Astharoth [v]

The spring equinox was a time of awaking celebrated by fertility rights, typically involving eggs, bunnies, etc. These pagan customs originated in Babylon and from Babel.

Pagans worshiped the sun as in the
"golden egg" of
"Astarte". This is
"Astorith" in the
OT (Old Testament) and is related to the rising sun and the word
"east".
4. Greek Orthodox days

5. Timeline: Prophecy of Daniel
Decree to rebuild:
173,800 days after early August of
445 BC is
March/April of
31 AD.
Temple destruction:
14,400 days before early September of
70 AD is
March/April of
31 AD.
It had to happen at this time. There was
no other way. [one drop of blood fallacy]
Matthew 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt. [kjv]
6. Jesus as Messiah and King
In the Bible, Jesus has two roles:
Messiah and
King.
|
Jesus as Messiah and King |
Jesus |
Messiah |
King |
First coming |
Second coming |
Kinsman redeemer |
Avenger of Blood |
Love God and neighbor |
Love God and neighbor |
|
The Jews at the time of Christ expected both and were disappointed in the "
first coming". The phrase "
Thy kingdom come" refers to that "
second coming" to replace the "
evil rulers" of this world with "
Christ" as "
King". Many details are in Revelation..
This idea shifted in the 4th century when the church hierarchy became employed by those "
evil rulers".
7. Matthew 26:17 Last supper
Matthew 26:17 Now the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the passover? [kjv]
The disciples
expected to eat the unleavened bread, or the Passover meal, on the Day of Preparation. Jesus provides instructions, but this may have been for the day before the usual day.
Upper room: We are already booked for the Passover crowd on the Day of Preparation with unleavened bread.
Early bird special: Make your reservations the day before. Get the leavened bread at a special price before it is too late!
How well does unleavened bread dip compared to leavened bread?
8. The Last Supper: the guest-chamber
Mark 14:14 And wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? [kjv]

Here is an icon (image) of the Greek Orthodox Church that I have in my office, to remind me of Jesus at the Last Supper.
The Last Supper is taken in the prepared
"guestchamber" - an
"upper room". The same Greek word is translated as "
Inn" in the Christmas story.
The New Testament or Covenant is given by which the Eucharist of the bread and wine is taken in remembrance.
Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the town of Ruth and Boaz. Bethlehem's main industry was raising passover lambs for the temple in Jerusalem. Jesus would become our passover lamb
9. Upper room guestchamber
Luke 22:11 … Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? [kjv]
Mark 14:14 … Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the passover with my disciples? [kjv]
Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn. [kjv]
The
"upper room" or
"guestchamber", translated as
"inn" in Luke 2:7, is part of the "
house".
10. Jesus and the law and Zaccheaus
Jesus and Zaccheaus: (verb). A few verses later is the Palm Sunday entrance of Jesus.
Luke 19:7 And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. [kjv]
Jesus and the law and the prophets: (verb). This is near the beginning of the Sermon on the Mount.
Matthew 5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. [kjv]
The English is
"fulfill" or
"fill full". The Greek for
"complete" can involve adding or taking away - as in a sculpture where parts of the material are chipped away.
11. Last Supper dining arrangements
Jesus: Table for 26 please.
Waiter: But there are only 13 of you.
Jesus: Yes, but we are all going to sit on the same side.
Note: The Greek uses the word for "
reclined" rather than "
sit" as in at a "
table".
12. Tenebrae
Matthew 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness ! [kjv]
… oculus … nequam … tenebrosum … tenebrae … tenebrae … [v]
The Latin word
"tenebrae" ≈ "darkness, shadow of death, prison" and is the name given to religious services before Easter.
Gradual extinguishing of candles
Loud noise, called a "strepitus", near the end of the service, often to mimic the pounding of the nails into the cross. The Latin word "strepo" ≈ "make a loud noise".
Days: Palm
Sunday, Holy
Monday, Holy
Tuesday, Spy
Wednesday, Maundy
Thursday, Good
Friday, Holy
Saturday, Resurrection (Easter)
Sunday
13. The mandate of Maundy Thursday
Maundy Thursday is 3 days before Easter and is the traditional day of the Last Supper.
The name comes from the Latin word
"mandare" ≈ "commit to one's charge, order, command" which is the source of the English word "
mandate" and comes from two Latin words.
It is sometimes called "
Love feast" and sometimes celebrated twice a year.
Whenever thinking of Maundy Thursday, one should think of the "
mandate" that Jesus gave at the Last Supper.
14. Transitive relationship
John 13:34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love :one another. [kjv]
mandatum novum … [v]
… newe maundement… [wy]

Jesus gives a "
new commandment". It is, rather, a new twist on two old commandments from the
OT.
Love your God with everything.
Love your neighbor as yourself.
Love fellow believers unconditionally.
The "
one another" is for those who are "
similar" and not "
different".
Jesus did not come to "
change everything" nor to replace the law but to fulfill the law. The new twist is to follow the example of Jesus in loving your neighbor as yourself.
15. Matthew 28:19-20 The Great Mandate
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [kjv]
28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. [kjv]
Matthew ends with "
The Great Commission" and uses the Latin word
"mandani" ≈ "commanded" as in "
mandate". The Greek translated as "
nations" is that of "
people".
Jesus does not call you to be a "leader" in the human organization sense - where part of "leadership" is to "follow the leader" and to "influence" others through dubious "manipulation".
Jesus does not call you to be a "friend" first where one tries to use "friendship" to "influence" others.
As you go through life, you should "
teach" others what Jesus wants you to teach them.
Star Trek:
.. to go where no man has gone before .... Jesus does
not want you to do what is said in Star Trek. Jesus wants you
... to go where men have gone before - and give them the Good News ....
16. Matthew 28:19 Trinity
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: [kjv]
euntes … docete omnes gentes baptizantes … in nomine … [v]
This is one place where all three parts of the "
Trinity" are explicitly mentioned.
17. Mount Moriah and Golgotha

The crucifixion of Jesus on Golgotha appears to appear as Hebrew "
remez" or hint of something deeper in the story of the sacrifice of Isaac by Abraham.
Isaac was somewhere from
25 to
35 years old and not the child as often portrayed.
Let us look at just a few key verses in the story of Abraham and the sacrifice of Isaac, who by Jewish tradition was about
30 years old.
18. Genesis 22:2 Age of Isaac
Genesis 22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of. [kjv]
Abraham goes to Mount Moriah. By Jewish tradition, Isaac was about
33 years old when this happened, about the same age as Jesus when he was crucified. A prophet did not start his career until age
30.
At the end of the first century, Josephus, in his history of the Jews, gives the age of Isaac as
25.
Isaac was not a young child as often portrayed in books for children or in many sermons by pastors.
19. Genesis 22:12,14 Mount of the Lord
Genesis 22:12 And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me. [kjv]
22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. [kjv]
What does it mean that "
In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen"? What will be seen on this mountain? What did Abraham see? Where exactly is this mountain?
20. 2 Chronicles 3:1 Mount Moriah
2 Chronicles 3:1 Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. [kjv]
There was a Jebusite threshing floor at Mount Moriah. Over a thousand years later, Solomon began to build the Temple of the Lord on this site.
21. Abraham and Jesus seeing each other
Jesus told the Jews that Abraham saw his day, the day of Jesus.
John 8:56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. [kjv]
The Jewish leaders instead talk about Jesus seeing Abraham, getting it
backwards!
8:57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? [kjv]
When did Abraham see the day of Jesus?
Genesis 22:14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen. [kjv]
22. John 19:17-18 Connect the dots
23. John 19:19-22 Languages on the cross
John 19:19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. [kjv]
19:20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. [kjv]
… titulum … hebraice graece … latine [v]
We get the English word
"title" from the Latin
"titulum" and the Greek «
The term for "
Latin" in the Latin Vulgate appears in John as the language of the
"Romans". Latin was the language of the Romans. As was usual, Pilate had an inscription placed above Jesus on the cross, signifying his crime.
A written language can refer to itself or to other languages.
24. John 19:21-22
25. Unpronounceable name of God
Pilate might have written something like the following.
י |
Jesus |
(yeshua) |
ה |
of Nazareth |
(na nazarei) |
ו |
King |
(ve melech) |
ה |
of the Jews |
(na ye hudim) |
|
Yahwey |
Hebrew is written and read right to left. Take the first (rightmost) letter of each word (bottom to top). Would this have upset the Jewish leaders? Note: The Jewish leaders could read Hebrew, but most other people only knew Aramaic.
26. Matthew 27:45 By the hour
Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. [kjv]
… sexta … hora tenebrae … horam nonam [v]
What is the "
sixth hour"? The Latin phrase
"sexta hora" ≈ "sixth hour".
What did the Latin phrase for "sixth hour" become in Spanish?
siesta hour shortened to siesta
What is the "
ninth hour"? The Latin word
"nonum horam" ≈ "ninth hour". How did this phrase change to what it is today?
The Latin word
"tenebrae" ≈ "darkness, shadow of death, prison" and is the name given to religious services before Easter.
27. The ninth hour: finished at noon
Matthew 27:45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour. [kjv]
… sexta … hora tenebrae … horam nonam [v]
27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? [kjv]
In the Roman time system, the "
ninth" hour is in mid-afternoon in what we would call 3 o'clock.
In the Middle Ages, monks tired of waiting until the Roman ninth hour from sunrise to "
noones" or 3:00 P.M. to eat. So the "
noones" was moved to midday and that time become known as "
noon".
28. John 19:30 It is finished
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. [kjv]
The ancient Greek word
"τέλειος" ≈ "purposed, complete, perfected" and
not the modern English idea of "
perfect" as "
without error".
At the
"end", Jesus says
"it is finished". The Greek word had a meaning of
"paid in full". In Revelation, Jesus shows up to redeem the deed that was paid on the cross.
29. Revelation 5:4-5 Closing costs
Revelation 5:4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. [kjv]
5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. [kjv]
Jesus paid it all. John is present to see the ultimate escrow closing in Revelation.
Question: If Jesus paid it all, do we need to keep paying the religious establishment? Can we just go out and do what Jesus asks us to do?
30. High Sabbath day and tradition
The Sabbath and the High Sabbath can be on the
same day with a
1/7 probability and on a
different day with a
6/7 probability.
An Easter
tradition is that the crucification of Jesus was on Friday afternoon and that the empty tomb was discovered, with the stone rolled away, on Sunday morning.
The Sunday morning discovery seems well-founded based on the texts of the
GNT (Greek New Testament) and subsequent church history and traditions. Some issues arise with the certain passages.
31. Matthew 12:38-39 Miracle sign
Jesus mentions Jonah in Matthew.
Matthew 12:38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. [kjv]
12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: [kjv]
What is the
"sign" of the prophet
"Jonah", into the
"ages"?
To
spout off, the Jonah story is a
whale of a
tale! Some people have a hard time
swallowing it. Other people
spout off about it.
32. Matthew 12:40 Three days and three nights
Matthew 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. [kjv]

In a literal interpretation, how does one get (a
minimum of) both
"three" "days" and "three" "nights" from late
Friday afternoon right before sundown until Sunday morning?
Did Jesus mean
exactly or a
minimum of these
"days" and
"nights"? The ancient Greek word
"τρεῖς" ≈ "three".
Remember: The stone was moved to let the women and disciples in, not let the resurrected Jesus get out.
[Mexican magician]
33. Some crucifixion week alternatives
How does one get "
three"
"days" and "
three"
"nights" from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning?
There appear to be some mis-translations in order to make the time line fit the accepted traditions.
The traditions were put in place a long time after the events actually happened.
The "
Day of Preparation" is the day before the Sabbath or High Sabbath. The Sabbath and the High Sabbath can be on the same day with a 1/7 probability and on a different day with a 6/7 probability. What does the Greek text say?
[stone rolled away, time to buy spices]
34. Bowling pin layout
The
tetractys pattern is the same as the
bowling pin layout, except that the base is at the back and the one pin is in the front.
The
TenWordPin model does not appear to need many of the interior transitions (vertical) from node to node. The sequential ordering is needed.
For
10 (ten) nodes or elements, there are
10! (ten factorial) or
3,628,800 ways or
permutations of arranging those elements. There are
45 possible edges so there are
245 or about
35,000,000,000,000 ways (subsets of edges) to include or exclude each edge in the model. Some models work better than other models.

42. Verses
Early in the Passover (crucifixion )week, Jesus says the following.
John 12:23 And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. [kjv]
12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. [kjv]
12:25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. [kjv]
12:26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour. [kjv]
What might these verses mean?
