Matthew 24:25-31 Told before
1. Matthew 24:25-31 Told before
Matthew 24:25 Behold, I have told you before. [kjv]
ιδου προειρηκα υμιν [gnt]
If Jesus tells them
"before" then has what he is now describing happened before?
2. Matthew 24:25 Before and after
3. Matthew 24:25
KJV: Behold, I have told you before.
Greek: ιδου προειρηκα υμιν
4. Matthew 24:23-26 Context verses
Matthew 24:23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. [kjv]
24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. [kjv]
24:25 Behold, I have told you before. [kjv]
24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. [kjv]
εαν ουν ειπωσιν υμιν ιδου εν τη ερημω εστιν μη εξελθητε ιδου εν τοις ταμειοις μη πιστευσητε [gnt]
5. Matthew 24:26 Desert
Matthew 24:26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. [kjv]
εαν ουν ειπωσιν υμιν ιδου εν τη ερημω εστιν μη εξελθητε ιδου εν τοις ταμειοις μη πιστευσητε [gnt]
The "desert" means "wilderness" and, literally, where few go.
Discuss: How could someone be
"deceived" into going where few go? What if this place is a small part of the population. Could you be persuaded to go there? What if you are then called the
"elect"?
6. Matthew 6:6 A storehouse of secret chambers: praying in the closet
Matthew 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. [kjv]
The following ancient Greek words are related.
"ταμεῖον" ≈ "storehouse, storeroom"
"ταμιεῖον" ≈ "storehouse, storeroom"
"ταμιεύω" ≈ "run a household, look after stores".
The word appears in the
GNT (Greek New Testament) four times and a similar word eleven times in the
LXX (Septuagint). The
KJV (King James Version) translates this word in the
GNT several ways.
closet (2)
secret chambers (1)
storehouse (1)
Sometimes the word used in a literal sense, sometimes in a figurative sense and sometimes both ways at the same time.
Despite the explanation given by Strongs, It is not clear where this meaning originated. The English word
"closet" is, through French, from the Latin word
"clausum" ≈ "enclosed space" as in "
claustrophobia",
7. Matthew 24:26 Secret chambers
The "secret chambers" ofter refer to the "innermost parts" of a person and is often translated as "closet".
Could this be a "deception"?
Discuss: How could someone be
"deceived" into believing that Christ is their
"innermost parts", to the extent that they believe they are Christ?
"ταμεῖον" ≈ "storehouse, storeroom"
"μάταιος" ≈ "vain, futile, empty, worthless".
"μάταιον" ≈ "vain, futile, empty, worthless" (accusative)
8. Matthew 24:26
KJV: Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
Greek: εαν ουν ειπωσιν υμιν ιδου εν τη ερημω εστιν μη εξελθητε ιδου εν τοις ταμειοις μη πιστευσητε
9. Matthew 24:27 Lightning
10. Chargers - Bolts
The
NFL (National Football League) Chargers, sometimes called the "
Bolts", have a lightning bolt as part of their logo.
Original owner/manager Frank Leahy: "
I liked it because they were yelling 'charge' and sounding the bugle at Dodger Stadium and at USC games.".
One Super Bowl: 1995 (1994 season) , 49ers 49, Chargers 26 (lost)
The Chargers played in the
AFL (American Football League) Championship game
5 times before the first Super Bowl, winning
1 of those
5.
Originally the Los Angeles Chargers, they have since returned to Los Angeles.
11. Lightning
The
NHL (National Hockey League) Tampa Bay Lightning, known as the "
Bolts", have the lightning bolt as part of their logo. Tampa, FL, is known as the "
Lightning capital of North America".
Stanley Cup championships: 2004, 2020, 2021. Finals in 2015 and 2022.
12. Matthew 24:27 Advent of a coming appearance
Matthew 24:27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. [kjv]
ωσπερ γαρ η αστραπη εξερχεται απο ανατολων και φαινεται εως δυσμων ουτως εσται η παρουσια του υιου του ανθρωπου [gnt]
The Greek word translated as
"shine" is that of the ancient Greek word
"φαίνω" ≈ "make known, reveal" which is the source of the English words such as
"phantom" and
"phenomena" (both things that
"appear").
The word "shine" implies "light" coming from a "source" (in the "past").
The word "appears" has to do with "perception" of those looking "back" in the "future".
13. Matthew 24:27 Advent of a coming appearance
14. Coming presence
Philippians 1:26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again. [kjv]
ινα το καυχημα υμων περισσευη εν χριστω ιησου εν εμοι δια της εμης παρουσιας παλιν προς υμας [gnt]
1:20 … but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ … [kjv]
κατα την αποκαραδοκιαν και ελπιδα μου οτι εν ουδενι αισχυνθησομαι αλλ εν παση παρρησια ως παντοτε και νυν μεγαλυνθησεται χριστος εν τω σωματι μου ειτε δια ζωης ειτε δια θανατου [gnt]
The Greek for "
rejoicing" is "
boasting". In context, there appears to be a play on words between the Greek words for
"frankness" (verse 20) and
"coming" (verse 26) of "
Jesus" and/or of "
Paul".
"παρουσία" ≈ "arrival, occasion, coming".
"παρρησία" ≈ "frankness, openness".
15. Matthew 24:27 Directions
The ancient Greek word
"δύσις" ≈ "setting of sun, west, hiding place" and comes from the ancient Greek word
"δύω" ≈ "cause to sink, plunge". The vocative is
"δῠ́σῐ" ≈ "sunset, west".
The Greek word translated as
"unto" is that of the ancient Greek word
"εως" ≈ "until" as in a measure of time.
The word "east" can be taken as "past" or "beginning" of time.
The word "west" can be taken as "future" or "end" of time.
16. Matthew 24:27
KJV: For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Greek: ωσπερ γαρ η αστραπη εξερχεται απο ανατολων και φαινεται εως δυσμων ουτως εσται και η παρουσια του υιου του ανθρωπου
17. Matthew 24:28 Birds and corpses
Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. [kjv]
οπου εαν η το πτωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι [gnt]
Can the
"birds" be associated with the (not good meaning of)
"elect"?
The ancient Greek word
"πτῶμα" ≈ "fall, misfortune, one who has fallen, corpse, ruin". There is
one "fallen" or
"corpse". Since a
"corpse" is a "
body" and the "
body" of Christ is the "
church", some take the (fallen and dead)
"corpse" to be the "
church" as a gathering of believers.
This is an equivocation of taking
"corpse" to "
body" to "
church". Is this common interpretation valid? Is the "
church" a
"dead body"?
18. Matthew 24:28 Birds of pray
Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. [kjv]
οπου εαν η το πτωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι [gnt]
The
literal meaning is that where there is a
"dead body" there will soon be
"birds" of prey or pray gathering.
In a
figurative meaning, can the
"birds" be located where the "
body" is before the
living "
body" becomes a
"dead body"? Can the
"birds" participate or otherwise cause the
living "
body" to become a
"dead body"?
Do the
"birds" know where the "
bodies" are "
buried"?
19. Matthew 24:19,28 Bird verse range
Matthew 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days ! [kjv]
ουαι δε ταις εν γαστρι εχουσαις και ταις θηλαζουσαις εν εκειναις ταις ημεραις [gnt]
24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. [kjv]
οπου εαν η το πτωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι [gnt]
This
"bird" reference, the last word of the verse in Greek, ends the
"bird" sequence started as the first word (in Greek) in verse 19 as
"οὐαί" ≈ "woe, alas" which is associated with a "
bird" of prey (or pray) swooping down.
Such a connection with
"birds" was made back in the Kingdom Parables in Matthew 13 starting with parable two of the "
weeds" and the "
wheat" and ending with parable four of the "
woman" and the "
leaven" or "
false doctrine".
20. Interesting connection
Matthew 13:25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way. [kjv]
εν δε τω καθευδειν τους ανθρωπους ηλθεν αυτου ο εχθρος και επεσπειρεν ζιζανια ανα μεσον του σιτου και απηλθεν [gnt]
13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened. [kjv]
αλλην παραβολην ελαλησεν αυτοις ομοια εστιν η βασιλεια των ουρανων ζυμη ην λαβουσα γυνη ενεκρυψεν εις αλευρου σατα τρια εως ου εζυμωθη ολον [gnt]
"καθολικός," ≈ "universal" is from
"καθόλου" ≈ "at all" is from:
"καθ" ≈ "according to" and
"ὅλος" ≈ "whole, all".
Verse 25 start: "καθεύδω" ≈ "lie down to sleep, be still, be idle"
Verse 33 end: "ολον" ≈ "whole" as in "the whole lump" (verse 33)
Verse 25 has the beginning of "
catholic" near the beginning and verse 33 has the ending of "
catholic" at the end. Is this just
random chance or might this have been on purpose?
21. Matthew 24:28
Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. [kjv]
οπου εαν η το πτωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι [gnt]
In the "
Olivet Discourse" in Matthew 24, Jesus is asked by his disciples and talks about the "
End Times" or "
All of It".
The "
carcase" is that of
"corpse" is
related to the Greek word for "
fallen ones" or "
poor" which Jesus uses as a figurative reference for those who need the "
Good News".
It appears that in the "
End Times", the
"birds" who prey on others have run out of dead bodies (dead in Christ) on which to prey (or pray).
It is a (today somewhat politically incorrect) instance of a statement of "
too many Chiefs (birds) and not enough Indians (corpses or fish)" (where the word "
chief" is a French word related to "
chef").
22. Matthew 24:28
KJV: For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
Greek: οπου γαρ εαν η το πτωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι
23. Ravening wolves and sheep
Luke 10:3 Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves. [kjv]
υπαγετε ιδου αποστελλω υμας ως αρνας εν μεσω λυκων [gnt]
Acts 20:29 For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. [kjv]
εγω οιδα οτι εισελευσονται μετα την αφιξιν μου λυκοι βαρεις εις υμας μη φειδομενοι του ποιμνιου [gnt]
The ancient Greek word
"λύκος" ≈ "wolf" but could be a "
jackdaw", "
starling", "
thrush", or similar bird. The modern Greek word
"λύκος" (LEE-kos) ≈ "wolf".
In terms of
"wolves" and "
sheep", how bad could it get in the "
end time" churches?
24. Ravening wolves and sheep
25. Matthew 24:29 Sun and moon and starts
26. Mind of the tail
If Jesus is the
"head", then what is the
"tail"? Where should your
"mind" be?
Jesus often uses code words where nouns are replaced with other nouns - so that the people will
not understand. In the security field, this is the definition of a
secret code. An interesting play on words is the use of a certain form of the word
"heaven" - the
genitive singular form.
"ουρανου" ≈ "heaven, sky".
"ουρά" ≈ "tail" and "νου" ≈ "of the mind" (genitive)
English: heaven, air
Greek: οὐρανού
Greek: οὐρά νου
English: tail of the mind
Saying: Your mind is in the gutter. One might say the gutter of your mind.
Note: Play on words to not need to follow grammar and/or spelling rules to be recognized and/or be effective.
Let us see how Jesus uses this form of the word in Matthew.
27. Matthew 24:29 Heavens
Matthew 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: [kjv]
ευθεως δε μετα την θλιψιν των ημερων εκεινων ο ηλιος σκοτισθησεται και η σεληνη ου δωσει το φεγγος αυτης και οι αστερες πεσουνται απο του ουρανου και αι δυναμεις των ουρανων σαλευθησονται [gnt]
What are these "
stars" that "
fall" and what "
powers" are "
shaken"? Might these be related to the
"tail" "of the mind" for the
first use of
"heaven" in this verse? Some of this appears to be referenced or described in Revelation.
The description by Jesus fits what is called an "
eclipse". The preceding verse describes "
lightning". The "
shaken" describes ocean waves.
28. Matthew 24:29 Darkness and light

This description that fits an eclipse is part of the "
Olivet Discourse" in Matthew 24:1-51 and 25:1-46 (101 verses), Mark 13:1-37 and Luke 21:4-36. It is one of the larger discourses spoken by Jesus and, at the disciple's request, deals with the "
End Times" or, as a play on words, "
All of it".
By contrast, the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, 6, 7 spans 111 verses.
The exact Greek word used by Jesus for "
fall" is used by him in only one other place in Matthew, the verse of the "
blind leading the blind falling into a ditch"
[Abraham Lincoln]
29. Matthew 24:29
KJV: Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Greek: ευθεως δε μετα την θλιψιν των ημερων εκεινων ο ηλιος σκοτισθησεται και η σεληνη ου δωσει το φεγγος αυτης και οι αστερες πεσουνται απο του ουρανου και αι δυναμεις των ουρανων σαλευθησονται
30. Matthew 24:30 On the clouds of the heaven
Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. [kjv]
και τοτε φανησεται το σημειον του υιου του ανθρωπου εν ουρανω και τοτε κοψονται πασαι αι φυλαι της γης και οψονται τον υιον του ανθρωπου ερχομενον επι των νεφελων του ουρανου μετα δυναμεως και δοξης πολλης [gnt]
Only the
second word for
"heaven" might be a play on words with
"tail" "of the mind". The context may not fit for such a play on words.
The KJV translates "in" the "clouds" for what the Greek has as "on" the "clouds".
The
KJV translates as
"great" the Greek word that means "
many". The ancient Greek word
"μεγας" ≈ "great" and is the source of the English prefix
"mega". This word is not used here.
31. Strongs - clouds
*G3507 *26 νεφέλη (nef-el'-ay) : from G3509; properly, cloudiness, i.e. (concretely) a cloud:--cloud.
 |
Words: νεφελαι νεφελαις=2 νεφελη=8 νεφελην=5 νεφελης=5 νεφελων=4 ομιχλαι
|
The ancient Greek word
"νεφέλη" ≈ "cloud" and is related to
"νέφος" ≈ "cloud". The Latin word
"nebula" ≈ "fog, cloud" and is the source of the English word
"nebulous".
32. Genesis 6:4 Giants
Genesis 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. [kjv]
הנפלים … [he]
οι δε γιγαντες ησαν επι της γης εν ταις ημεραις εκειναις και μετ εκεινο ως αν εισεπορευοντο οι υιοι του θεου προς τας θυγατερας των ανθρωπων και εγεννωσαν εαυτοις εκεινοι ησαν οι γιγαντες οι απ αιωνος οι ανθρωποι οι ονομαστοι [lxx]
The Hebrew word
"הנפלים" (ha-ne-pi-lim) ≈ "Nephilim" is translated is
"giants" but these were more than just big and what we would call "
giants" today.
The English word
"Jared"comes from the Latin word
"Iared" ≈ "Jared" which comes from the ancient Greek word
"Ἰαρέδ" ≈ "Jared" which comes from the Hebrew word
"ירד" (yered) ≈ "descend, go down".
33. War of the gods: titans and giants
The Greek transliteration is
"Νεφιλίμ" ≈ "Nephilim".
War of the gods:
Titans (New York Titans in the AFL, Tennessee Titans more recently)
Giants (New York Giants)
The "
bad" side, the Titans, were condemned to be sent to "
Tartarus", the lower part of the depths of "
hell".
Peter, written to Greeks, uses "Tartarus".
Jude does not mention the place.
(Josephus)
For the conspiracy theorist, the Greek word for
"clouds" (
dative) can be a play on words with the Hebrew transliteration into Greek of
"Nephilim".
"νεφελῶν" ≈ "cloud" (genitive, as used) from "νεφέλη" ≈ "cloud".
"νεφιλίμ" ≈ "nephilim" (transliteration of Hebrew)
Play on words:
... son of the man coming/going on the clouds [nephilim] of the heaven [tail of the mind] ...
35. Matthew 24:30
KJV: And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Greek: και τοτε φανησεται το σημειον του υιου του ανθρωπου εν τω ουρανω και τοτε κοψονται πασαι αι φυλαι της γης και οψονται τον υιον του ανθρωπου ερχομενον επι των νεφελων του ουρανου μετα δυναμεως και δοξης πολλης
37. Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart
Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. [kjv]
μακαριοι οι καθαροι τη καρδια οτι αυτοι τον θεον οψονται [gnt]
beati mundo corde … videbunt [v]
Ivory Soap is
99.44% pure and it
floats! That specific number appears to have resulted due to a rounding error in calculations that was then adopted as part of a marketing slogan. [chaos theory]
In the Beatitudes, Jesus talks about the
"pure" or
"clean" in
"heart" and
"seeing" God.
What does it mean to be "pure" or "clean" in "heart"?
What does it mean to "see" God?
It appears that
"pure" in
"heart" refers to not having any ulterior motives used to do "
evil" as in "
oppress" others.
The important words are
"blessed",
"pure",
"heart" and
"see"
This should be answered in the sense of the Beatitudes and not in a general or otherwise sense.
38. Matthew 24:31 Angels choose
Matthew 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. [kjv]
και αποστελει τους αγγελους αυτου μετα σαλπιγγος μεγαλης και επισυναξουσιν τους εκλεκτους αυτου εκ των τεσσαρων ανεμων απ ακρων ουρανων εως των ακρων αυτων [gnt]
The "reapers" are the "angels".
There are many "trumpets" in Revelation.
The Greek word translated as "his" is that of "his/it" (masculine/neuter).
Who are the "elect"?
The Greek word translated as "four" can be a play on words with "four-lizard".
The Greek word translated as "winds" can be a play on words with "against the law" or "iniquity".
The "ends" are one point to another point, such as from the "beginning" of time, or "east", to the "end" of time, or "west".
Neither this verse nor the verse that follows (the fig tree) indicate what happens to the "elect".
39. Matthew 24:31
KJV: And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
Greek: και αποστελει τους αγγελους αυτου μετα σαλπιγγος φωνης μεγαλης και επισυναξουσιν τους εκλεκτους αυτου εκ των τεσσαρων ανεμων απ ακρων ουρανων εως των ακρων αυτων
40. Song: Battle Hymn of the Republic
When the song was sung at a rally attended by President Lincoln, he cried out with tears in his eyes, "Sing it again!" (GodTube.com)
Julia Ward Howe (1819-1910) wrote the "
Battle Hymn of the Republic" in 1861 at the outbreak of the American Civil War, being asked to write new words for "
John Brown's body lies a-mouldering in the grave" to the popular tune "
Glory, Hallelujah".
The tune and words soon spread to troops, slaves, prisoners, etc.
41. Verse 1
Mine eyes have seen the
glory of the
coming of the Lord;
he is trampling out the vintage
where the grapes of
wrath are stored;
he hath loosed the fateful
lightning of his
terrible swift sword;
His
truth is marching on.
42. Refrain
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
Glory, glory, hallelujah!
His truth is marching on.
43. Matthew 13:47-50: KP7 Parable of the harvest at the end of the age
Matthew 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: [kjv]
13:48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. [kjv]
The 7th and last of the Kingdom Parables in Matthew 13 is about the (implied) fish in the sea (of humanity).
The
"bad" is that of
"rotten" or
"putrid" or
"spoiled" (e.g., fruit). The
"vessels" may be
reflexive. Only the
"good" are
"arranged", not necessarily
"put", into
"vessels".
44. Matthew 13:47-50 KP7 parable verses
The seventh kingdom parable is the harvest at the end of the age.
Matthew 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind: [kjv]
13:48 Which, when it was full, they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away. [kjv]
Verses 49 and 50 appear to be a
restatement of verses 47 and 48.
13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, [kjv]
13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. [kjv]
One assumes that there are "
fish" in the "
net" but this is
never stated. In real life, "
birds", "
animals" and other creatures might be caught in a "
net".
45. Chosen elect
Matthew 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, [kjv]
ουτως εσται εν τη συντελεια του αιωνος εξελευσονται οι αγγελοι και αφοριουσιν τους πονηρους εκ μεσου των δικαιων [gnt]
13:50 And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. [kjv]
και βαλουσιν αυτους εις την καμινον του πυρος εκει εσται ο κλαυθμος και ο βρυγμος των οδοντων [gnt]
24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. [kjv]
Are these verses a statement of basically the same idea? A good teacher often teaches the same thing in many different ways.
Who are the "chosen" or "elect" in these verses? What happens to them?
Is being one of the "elect" good or not good?
46. Matthew 24:32-36 End time fig trees
Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: [kjv]
24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. [kjv]
Jesus uses the
"fig tree" in the Olivet Discourse on the End Times in Matthew 24 and 25. This is at the request of the disciples. This
"fig tree" reference is often taken to be Israel in the End Times.

47. Matthew 24:51 End of the chapter
Matthew 24:51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. [kjv]
This ends the chapter of the Olivet Discourse on the End Times.
To where have the "hypocrites" or "pretenders" or "actors" gone? Who are the "many"?
Who are the "few"? What happened to them? Are these the "elect"?
Who are the "many" who are "left" or "forgiven"?
The discourse continue into chapter 25. Parables:
Ten virgins - destinations not directly stated but connected to the harvest at the end of the age (seventh kingdom parable).
Talents - "many" (two) "left", "few" (one) "taken" and cast into "outer" "darkness".
Sheep and Goats. The "sheep" are ""forgiven"" and "inherit" without "leaving". The "goats" "taken" away into "everlasting" "punishment".
48. Matthew 24:40-41 Taken or left
Matthew 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [kjv]
τοτε εσονται δυο εν τω αγρω εις παραλαμβανεται και εις αφιεται [gnt]
24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. [kjv]
δυο αληθουσαι εν τω μυλω μια παραλαμβανεται και μια αφιεται [gnt]
The Greek for
"left" is often translated as
"forgiven". Where is the other
"taken"?
Is it better to be "taken over" or "left"?
Is it better to be "taken over" and "thrown out" (a few verses later) or "left" and/or "forgiven"?
The ancient Greek word
"παραλαμβάνω" ≈ "take over (by consent or force)". Literally, it is "
beyond"
"taking". How is this word to be taken in these verses? The only thing Jesus says you are to do is to
"take" is your "
cross" and "
follow" Him. However, Jesus is not bound by this
"take" restriction.
49. Matthew 24:25
50. Matthew 24:26
Creation day 2: sky. Deceptions. desert (light, day) or secret chambers (darkness, night).
The "
birds" try to attract the "
fish" by holding "
opinions" up as
false "
light" without putting those "
opinions" or "
candles" under a "
measure".
51. Matthew 24:27
Creation day 2: sky. Lightning can propagate. The direction of the Gospel by Paul went west, not east.
The "
news" or "
coming" of the Gospel of the Son of Man came and spread quickly through Paul, who, from the east, went west.
52. Matthew 24:28
The eagles, representing Rome, gathered together at the mustard tree. Oaths and peer pressure (tribulation) to conform as desired by the birds.
Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. [kjv]
οπου εαν η το πτωμα εκει συναχθησονται οι αετοι [gnt]
The "
fallen" ones, or "
poor" in "
spirit", the "
fallen" being related to "
carcase", need the Good News. The "
birds" are waiting to provide their version of that news.
The
"tribulation", or
"pressure" to take oaths, etc. starts here and can be inferred from the next verse.
53. Matthew 24:29
Creation day 4: Sun, moon and stars created. Worshiped. Stars fall from bad "heaven". Leaven and false doctrine.
54. Matthew 24:29
Creation day 5 (initial pass): Spirit moved on the waters. The "potentiality" of the good "heavens" now shaken (for some).
55. Matthew 24:30
Creation day 6 (TenPin 6): Animals, traditions, etc. They shall see God.
56. Matthew 24:31
Creation day 5 (TenPin 7): Sea creatures and birds. Kingdom parable 7 and the harvest at the end of the age.
