Emperor Tiberius Caesar (on taxes): It is the duty of a good shepherd to shear his sheep, not to skin them.

At the same time, Jesus was walking and teaching in Judea. Jesus had a different idea about what it meant to be a "good" "shepherd".

John 10:11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. [kjv]

Rome never again tried to move into what is today Germany. These Germanic tribes continued their idea of self-independence. They moved into Britain/England. Later, the Vikings invaded.
Rome continued to be present in what is today France with their big and powerful government ideas. They moved into Britain/England in the Norman Conquest.

After the Reformation, and the Anglican Church, many groups such as the Puritans went to America to find religious freedom.

The Goths moved from place to place.

The Ostragoths would settle in northern Italy (having sacked Rome at one point).
The Visagoths would settle in Spain.

The Goths influenced both languages.
The Gothic word "amalric" means, literally "rich-ruler" or "powerful-ruler" where the terms "rich" and "powerful" have a lot in common. The German word "reich" as in "rich" or "Third" "Reich" is related.

A common Christmas verse from Matthew is the following. The "God with us" has been used by many empires as a military slogan.

The Luther German from the 1500's uses the German phrase "Gott mit uns" ≈ "God with us", a phrase that often used by Germany in war. Powers such as Germany, Russia, Roman Empire(s), and others, have used this phrase as a "battle cry".

In high school, Uncle Donny gave me a German belt buckle from his service in World War II. The Nazi swastika is surrounded by the words "Gott mit uns", or "God with us", from the Luther Bible 400 years earlier. The verse is often read at Christmas.

The "created equal" comes from the Bible, but the Bible only indicates equality before God and equality on earth at birth. Some pastors and others will use the Bible to promote political and social agendas in the name of freedom and equality.

The American Revolution opened the floodgates for humanistic revolutions around the globe, starting with the (atheistic and secular) French Revolution in 1789-1794.

The sign "Democracy or dictatorship" is a good example of a deception using logical fallacies such as false dilemma, selective evidence, etc.
A "democracy" is, in fact, a "dictatorship" called by the founding fathers the "tyranny of the majority". That is why the United States was founded as a "democratic republic" and not a "democracy". The actual choices:

Democratic dictatorship (with no personal freedom protections)
Democratic republic (with personal freedom protections)

It is often attributed to Benjamin Franklin the saying that democracy is like two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. The deception here, a red herring deception, is to divert attention from what is said to argue about who did or did not say it.

Some pastors and religious denominations, etc., promote a similar deception by making their flock believe that one can vote to determine whether to take seriously parts of the Bible that they, in their own opinion or glory, do not like. Personal political and social agendas then get portrayed as Bible truth.

The American Revolution let the cat out of the bag, so to speak. While attempting to base the Declaration of Independence on Biblical principles, no later revolution of the people made any such pretense.

Note that all later socialist revolutions were atheist in nature.

The French Revolution led to a more than 10,000 people losing their heads over the matter. The French democracy was short-lived.

Soon, General Napoleon Bonaparte took over as dictator. Napoleon was not French but was born in Corsica.

The modern nationalist movement created huge armies and huge casualties - all in the name of humanistic democracy.

The Russian Revolution of 1917 ended the rule of the Czar and started a democracy.

Lenin took advantage of the democracy to take over, promising anything and everything to anyone who would listen.

After he took over, he got rid of all opposition and ignored any promises made. Millions died in the ensuing Russian Civil War (Reds vs. Whites).

The result was the USSR, the United Soviet Socialist Republic. Soon, Stalin, who was not Russian, but Georgian, took over.

In 1932-1933 Stalin starved about 10,000,000 of his own people to death in the Ukraine and Black Sea area.

In total, Stalin eliminated upwards of 20,000,000 of his own people.

After World War I, the fledgling Weimar Republic was the democracy of Germany.

Hitler, who was not German, but Austrian, attempted a takeover by force in the 1920's, but it failed.

After the economy all but collapsed in Weimar Germany, Hitler and the National Socialist Party, or Nazi party, used the rules of the democracy against itself to take over in 1933.

Hitler was responsible for about 10,000,000 civilian deaths, including about 6,000,000 Jews.

During and after World War II, communist socialists and national socialists fought for control of China.

Mao established his version of communist socialism on China.

In the 1960's, it is estimated that about 60,000,000 people "disappeared" during the "cultural" revolution.

When one "hears" about "wars", and "hearings" of "wars" (not "rumors"), one is not to "cry out" that the "end" has come. How many books have been written, etc., on what one "hears" and then the "end" is come?

Think the story of chicken little. The sky is falling!

Will Jesus ever talk about the "sky" "falling"? How about the "stars" "falling"?
