Greek digamma
by RS  admin@creationpie.org : 1024 x 640

1. Greek digamma
In ancient times, Greek had a letter "Ϝ" called digamma that disappeared and that had the sound of an English "v" or "w".

 Ϝ ϝ Ϛ ς

The Greek digamma corresponds to the English "F" and had an "f" or "v" or "w". As it was not needed for sound value, it disappeared except for it's numeric value of six (6).

2. Digamma words
Here are some Greek words that originally had a "digamma". Some of these (and other) words are detailed below.

3. 666
The most famous use of the "digamma" as "Ϝ" or "ϝ" (or "stigma" as "Ϛ" or "ς") is in the "666", the number of the beast, at the end of Revelation 13.

4. Christ
 Σ σ ς

Unlike the upper case sigma "Σ", the lower case sigma is written differently if it is at the end of a word, as "ς" or not at the end of a word as "σ". Hebrew has a number of such letters. Greek has only this one.

5. Chain and waltz
What does the "Waltz" from the German "wälzte" have to do with the Greek "αλυσίδα" for "chain"?

The ancient Greek word "Ϝαλύτις" (va-lee'-tis) ≈ "chain" is related to the German "wälzte" for "turn". Both come from the PIE (Proto Indo-European) root having to do with turning.
Information sign More: Waltzing out of chains

HouseThe original Greek word for house «ϝοικος» (vee-kos or wee-kos) started with a digamma and became «οίκος» (ee-kos) and is related to the Old English "wic" or house as in the "Earl of Sandwich".
Information sign More: Greek house and village and city

6. Video
The modern Greek word "ειδή" (ee-THEE) ≈ "see" originally started with a digamma with a "f" or "v" sound and is related to the word "video".
Information sign More: John 9: One thing I know is that I know nothing

7. Week
The related ancient Greek word "εἴκω" (ee-ko) ≈ "yield, turn" is used in the GNT (Greek New Testament). The older ancient Greek word "Ϝεἴκω" (wee-ko) ≈ "yield, turn" had a leading digamma which had a "w" or "v" sound and is related to the English word "week" (as in a turning or starting over).
Information sign More: Turning seven into a week

8. Revelation Rainbow halos
