The confusing addition of new rules
by RS  admin@creationpie.org : 1024 x 640

1. The confusing addition of new rules
In general, a sect tends to add rules and requirements. Typical beliefs (or non-beliefs) of sects are the following.

2. Sects
What is a sect? Traditions are something that is handed over to others (similar to the word for betraying in Greek).

Every group has traditions that add to the basic rules.

3. Business cultures
In business, every business, as a group of humans, has a "business culture" that is particular to that particular business. This can be extended to every organization or society.

4. Methodism
Throughout history, groups have been ridiculed using a given adjective and that group then takes that adjective as a badge of honor. United Methdist logoThe Methodist church of the Reformation got its name, in part, because their followers had a "method" for everything, which is still true in the United Methodist church today (which, having merged with the Evangelical United Brethren church in the 1960's, added "United" to its name) .

5. Adding rules
Over time, people tend to add additional rules to the original rules.

The priests added many rules to the Sabbath that were not in the original rules given by God.

6. Jesus and the Sabbath
Jesus never violated the rules of the Sabbath as given by God, but did violate man-made rules for the Sabbath that were not in line with the original rules given by God.

7. Too many rules
Adding rules makes it more difficult to distinguish which rules are from God and which rules are from man.

8. Dr. Dobson
Dr. Dobson makes this point with teaching children about rules so that when they (in most cases) inevitably rebel, they know what are family rules and what are God's rules.

9. Adding rules
Where is the first place in the Bible where rule given by God has additional rules added by man?

10. Genesis 2:16
   Genesis 2:16
 All
KJV: And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:

11. Genesis 2:17
   Genesis 2:17
 All
KJV: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

12. Eve
Eve is then created as a helper for Adam. (verses omitted)

13. Marriage
God then gives guidance on marriage, affirmed by Jesus in the GNT (Greek New Testament).

14. Genesis 2:24
   Genesis 2:24
 All
KJV: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

15. Temptation
The temptation arrives.

16. Genesis 3:1
   Genesis 3:1
 All
KJV: Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?

17. Eve's response
Here is Eve's response.

18. Genesis 3:2
   Genesis 3:2
 All
KJV: And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:

19. Additional rule
Eve then adds an additional rule, which Satan can use to logically twist reality of what God has said.

20. Genesis 3:3
   Genesis 3:3
 All
KJV: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

21. Touching the fruit
The "touch" of the fruit is not part of the original rule from God.

22. Genesis 3:4
   Genesis 3:4
 All
KJV: And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:

23. Genesis 3:5
   Genesis 3:5
 All
KJV: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

24. Be God
That is the primary basis of temptation. You can be a god and do things any way you desire.

Satan is actually the one who wants to be god, and projects that on humans whenever possible.

25. Genesis 3:6
   Genesis 3:6
 All
KJV: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
