James H. Ziogas, 94, of Elizabethtown, PA, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Mouzaki, Greece he was the son of the late Harry and Vasilike (Papaioannou) Ziogas. He was the loving husband of Helen (Papadakis) Ziogas with whom he shared over 59 years of marriage.
He was a long-time social studies teacher at Elizabethtown High School.

Notice the progression in the poem fragment by Aquinas.

Aquinas: ... Your Blood, one drop of which can heal the entire world of all its sins.

Aquinas states a "potentiality" and does not take it to an "actuality". That is, it "could" do so is all that is stated.

You may have heard: One drop of Jesus's blood was sufficient to cover the sins of all humanity for all of time. Let it cover us.


Was one drop of blood sufficient?	Was the cross necessary?

Some pastors (and others) take the "potentiality" (by Aquinas) and change it to an "actuality" to be a given fact that has already happened.

The same logical errors are made when Jesus provides an analogy as that something is "like" something else. Soon, sermons are given as if the analogy has actually happened in reality.
Discuss: Is making such logical leaps without any apparent logical validity deceptive?

In Matthew 7, Jesus uses the ancient Greek word "δοκόν" ≈ "beam" as a play on words with "δοκοῦν" ≈ "opinion, expectation" in the "beam" (as expectation) and "mote" where "κάρφος" ≈ "twig, splinter, mote" and "καρπός" ≈ "fruit".

Could this be related to "Beam me up, Scotty. There's no intelligent life here"?

The ancient Greek word "φωνή" ≈ "voice, sound" comes from the ancient Greek word "φως" ≈ "light" and the ancient Greek word "νους" ≈ "mind". That is, a "sound" or "voice" is "light" into the "mind".

This is not the Greek word translated as "agree" in Matthew 5:25.

The Latin word "consentio" ≈ "consent, agree" and is the source of the English word "consent".

Who was "beamed" down to "earth" and lived among us and let us know the "way" to be "beamed up"?

There are (at least) two ancient Greek words for what some would call "cheers" or "greetings". The ancient Greek word "ἀσπάζομαι" ≈ "cheers, salute" and is less formal and less serious sense. The word for the general "ethnic" population at large is in most manuscripts rather than the more specific "publican" or "tax collector" (which has a special meaning when used by Jesus).

The ancient Greek word "χαίρετε" ≈ "greetings, rejoice" and is usually in a more formal, sincere and positive sense. The modern Greek word "χαίρετε" (HEH-reh-teh) ≈ "greetings" as a more formal greeting.

Before you knit pick, that's a woolly good joke! Shear delight! Ewe sweater agree? I'm not trying to ram it down your throat. Groups who like sheep jokes suffer from a herd mentality. They heard it somewhere and it becomes a stampede as they run their mouth instead of exercising restraint.
