Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. [kjv]
The word "
rejoice" appears often in the song "
This is the day" from 1967 by
Les Garrett. The phrase "
This is the day" refers to
the "
day" and not
a "
day".
That "
day" was originally the Passover before the Exodus but was to be a sign both the
Messiah and the
King (same person). Jesus entered on that day, "
Palm Sunday", with that song which angered the religious establishment. The tune works well as "
antiphonal" where the song can move between
two parts of the
congregation.
This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made;
we will rejoice, we will rejoice and be glad in it, and be glad in it.
This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made.
