Jewish feasts and celebrations

There are seven Jewish festivals/feasts outlined in the Bible.

Feast of Passover (spring)
Feast of Unleavened Bread (spring, after Passover)
First Fruits (beginning of grain harvest in Fall)
Feast of Weeks (Pentecost, 50 days after First Fruits, end of grain harvest)
Feast of Trumpets (Fall, end of agricultural year)
Day of Atonement (10 days ofter Trumpets)
Feast of Tabernacles or Booths (5 days ofter Atonement)

Exodus 12:27 That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. [kjv]

Exodus 12:27

What is the Feast of Trumpets?

Leviticus 23:24 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, In the seventh month, in the first day of the month, shall ye have a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, an holy convocation. [kjv]

λαλησον τοις υιοις ισραηλ λεγων του μηνος του εβδομου μια του μηνος εσται υμιν αναπαυσις μνημοσυνον σαλπιγγων κλητη αγια εσται υμιν [lxx]

Numbers 29:1 And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, ye shall have an holy convocation; ye shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you. [kjv]

και τω μηνι τω εβδομω μια του μηνος επικλητος αγια εσται υμιν παν εργον λατρευτον ου ποιησετε ημερα σημασιας εσται υμιν [lxx]

The Feast of Trumpets marked the beginning of 10 days of consecration and repentance before God. It happens in the Fall season.

It comes from the command to blow trumpets (or horns, literally animal horns used for sound blasts - the shofar).

Greek: και τω μηνι τω εβδομω μια του μηνος επικλητος αγια εσται υμιν παν εργον λατρευτον ου ποιησετε ημερα σημασιας εσται υμιν

1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: [kjv]

οτι αυτος ο κυριος εν κελευσματι εν φωνη αρχαγγελου και εν σαλπιγγι θεου καταβησεται απ ουρανου και οι νεκροι εν χριστω αναστησονται πρωτον [gnt]

4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. [kjv]

επειτα ημεις οι ζωντες οι περιλειπομενοι αμα συν αυτοις αρπαγησομεθα εν νεφελαις εις απαντησιν του κυριου εις αερα και ουτως παντοτε συν κυριω εσομεθα [gnt]
