Details: In Matthew 17:24-27, Matthew relates the story of the temple tax. Does the religious establishment effectively grab Peter by the next to entrap him? Peter then speaks for Jesus without asking Jesus. Is this a sin? What does Jesus then do? Does Jesus use the conflict resolution protocol he will describe in the middle of the next chapter? Is the religious establishment interested only in the tax money? There's gold in those fish mouths. How will this compare with the children the middle and the millstone (deception) in the next chapter? These questions (and answers) follow both from this short discourse and from the discourse continued in the next chapter.
